Lesley Angell – Expert Cumbria & Lake District Guide

I am Lesley Angell, a qualified Blue Badge Tourist Guide for Cumbria. I set up Beacon Guiding Cumbria after completing 15 months of study, passing the 8 written and practical exams necessary to become a member of the ‘Institute of Tourist Guiding’. I graduated with the coveted Blue Badge, a trusted assurance that your guide not only has an in depth knowledge of the area, but also the skills to ensure that visitors have an amazing experience, by bringing the area to life with stories of the people, history and culture of this unique area.

I grew up in the village of Windermere and spent my childhood exploring the surrounding woods, fells and lakeshores. Imparting in me a deep and abiding love for the area, its people and traditions, and inspiring my journey to become a fully qualified Lake District guide.

I have lived with my own family in Penrith for nearly 30 years. I love the town and the Eden Valley area, with its rich historical and agricultural heritage.

I am a proud Cumbrian and welcome the chance to champion and share the very best of my home county with you.
